Includes but not limited to:
providing front-line assistance to customers with questions or concerns, utilize computerized programs and databases to enter, modify, and retrieve sensitive information and various data into or from electronic medical records, scheduling systems, and/or reporting formats. Utilizes such programs and databases to make appointments in a clinical setting. Maintains patient confidentiality with written and verbal information, per HIPPA requirements. Applies discernment and sensitivity when performing tasks required to resolve issues accurately and timely. Facilitates any necessary follow-up to ensure satisfactory resolution. Work in a proficient and self-directed manner to accomplish a wide variety of tasks, to include setting priorities and coordinating work. Incumbent works under the supervision of the Medical Administration Supervisor; who makes assignments by defining the overall objectives, priorities, and deadlines; and assists with unusual situations that do not have clear precedents. The employee uses initiative and works independently within the framework established by the supervisor for carrying out recurring assignments; and refers specific problems not covered by the supervisor. For all assignments above the full performance level, the higher-level duties must consist of significant scope, administrative independence, complexity (difficulty) and range of variety as described in this standard at the specified grade level and be performed by the incumbent at least 25% of the time. Six months experience of clerical, office or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position; or (2) Education. One year above high school; or (3) Experience/Education Combination. Equivalent combination of experience and education are qualifying for entry level for which both education and experience are acceptable Preferred
Experience:
One year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-6). Experience comparable to the next lower grade (GS-6) is defined as experience that includes but not limited to:
Scheduling, canceling, re-scheduling patient's appointments and/or consults; entering no-show information, monitoring the electronic wait list; preparing for clinic visits; monitoring both inpatient and outpatient appointments for areas of responsibility; ensuring encounter forms are completed in order to obtain appropriate workload credit; verifying and updating demographics and insurance information; processing all emergency and non-emergency transfers to other facilities or private hospitals; performing basic eligibility, co-pays and pre-authorization requirements for specific coverage. In addition to the basic requirements, the following qualification criteria must be met for the grade. The candidate's qualifications must clearly demonstrate the level of competence required for the grade. GS- 7:
One (1) year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, GS-6. Candidates must demonstrate the KSA's below:
Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and a wide range of clinical flow processes relating to access to care across multiple clinics, specialties, and/or community resources. Ability to utilize numerous advanced patient systems in support of multiple clinics in an interdisciplinary setting. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and delegate tasks/responsibilities in order to meet deadlines. Skill in communicating with individuals to obtain the desired effect and coordinating with a variety of interdisciplinary care team staff . Ability to provide staff development and training. Ability to manage staffing requirements, manage workflow priorities, and adjust the flow of work to meet team and patient needs. This includes the ability to follow-up on pending issues and demonstrate an understanding of the impact of incomplete work across multiple clinics. References:

Although the work is typically sedentary, some standing, stooping, reaching and lifting of up to 20 pounds is required. The employee is required to work with computer equipment at least 75% of the time which impacts on hand and wrist motions. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
