Assigning and evaluating the work of subordinate staff; resolving complex issues to ensure patient services are met; Identifies educational or training needs of subordinate staff and full supervisory responsibility for supervising at least one subordinate team leader and up to averaging 35 Medical Support Assistants. Develops or updates procedures, policies, or standards. Develops an ongoing customer service program with emphasis on the first impression, interacts with waiting patients, developing trust and setting the tone for the patient experience. Consults with managers or other personnel to resolve problems in areas such as performance, staffing, or work schedules. Extract and analyzes data to provide reports in support of performance measures to senior management. Creates reports to identify the timeliness of initial appointments and follow-up appointments for developing a monthly Quality Management report for aggregate totals per the OIG (Office of Inspector General) directive. Initiates all requests for personnel action, performance appraisals, certification of time, interviews applicants and makes recommendations to the business service line chiefs for the selection. Utilizes computerized programs and databases to enter, modify, and retrieve sensitive information and various data into or from electronic medical records, scheduling systems, and/or reporting formats. To qualify at the GS-8 grade level as a Supervisory Medical Support Assistant you must meet the following requirements in addition to the basic requirements:

Qualifying experience must be at a level comparable to the Lead Medical Support Assistant experience at the next lower grade level. For example:

assuring coverage of all areas of responsibility; conducting ongoing reviews to ensure quality of work; ensuring accurate and timely scheduling of appointments; providing guidance to staff members to include changes in policies and procedures; distributing and balancing workload; creating and maintaining employee work schedules; orienting and providing on-the-job training for new and current employees; ensuring all training requirements are met; organizing the work structure of his/her assigned areas; and acting as liaison between MSA and staff in order to resolve day to day conflicts. For all assignments above the full performance level, the higher-level duties must consist of significant scope, administrative independence, complexity (difficulty) and range of a variety as described in this standard at the specified grade level and be performed by the incumbent at least 25% of the time? The work is primarily sedentary but is performed in a combination of medical areas that would require periods of sitting, walking, standing and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds. There are minimal amounts of stretching, bending, pushing and pulling. In general, the work does not require special physical demands. However, rigid deadlines and need for high degree of accuracy periodically can become stressful. Applicants must be able to use fingers for frequent keyboarding and to operate a computer; must be able to ambulate to the specific treatment areas with ease.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
